Art as furniture upholstery

We admired not so much time ago, on the fashion runways, the new Collection from Moschino for Spring-Summer 2020 ready-to-wear. This time, the famous designer Jeremy Scott has dedicated this collection to Picasso and his muses. He created an entire collection using different canvas as art play. And he was not the only one who has decided to insert accents like flower-art-print as a local focal point (like Prada) or to create entire outfits in art-printed fabrics (like Blumarine, Alexander McQueen and other).

Design and fashion go hand-in-hand in many aspects, they follow the same trends, use color schemes (Pantone), and dedicate entire collections on various historical periods, just with a perspective of interior decoration! It was of no surprise to see that some furniture producers presented at the International Milano Fair #iSaloni in April 2019 a series of articles upholstered in fabrics with art-painted graphics and images. Well-made, interesting pieces we could see on the stand of the Spanish @famasofas: from sofas, armchairs, table and coffee tables to small decorative objects, cushions, and carpets.

What do you think about this “dedication-to-art” trend? Would you like to have in your living or working spaces such vivid and unusual pieces? Or do you prefer to play with it in small doses by using small decorative objects like a vase or a cushion on an armchair? Share your opinion in the comment section.

With best wishes,
