The armchair NEMO (2011), designed by Fabio Novembre for the Italian producer company Driade www.driade.com.

Founded in 1968, Driade became immediately associated with High Luxury Design Furniture segment because of so many important collaborations made with best designers, architects and other cultural personalities, authors of many design icons, such as Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Fabio Novembre, Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Alessandro Mendini, Naoto Fukasawa, Tokujin Yoshioka, and others.

After more than five decades in the business, Driade continues to create an avant-garde lifestyle, modern and rich in shapes and materiality, a balanced blend between Rock, Pop, Sexiness, Sophistication, and Experimentation (as the brand sees itself).

Fabio Novembre uses design to tell stories, where the protagonist is often the human figure. As encountered in Greek art, the designer chooses to use classical features to create unique design objects as turned to be the head-armchair NEMO. Just like a mask, it simultaneously hides and reveals its inhabitant.

This armchair is an exquisite art piece. The sculptural shape is made of polyethylene by rotational molding proposed in two versions: fixed (indoor/outdoor use) or swivel (indoor use only). It is available in different matt colors (white, black, grey, red, denim) and glossy (red or black). Moreover, it is possible to realize the lacquered Nemo with a customized color (referenced to international RAL palette).

The year 2021 will be the year of innovation. Was introduced the NEMO SKIN TONE presented in five different skin tones, made eco-friendly by using a new generation of water-based matt acrylic paints that give the product a particular resistance to use, UV-light, and atmospheric agents. Moreover, its aesthetic is a soft and “silky” touch that perfectly recalls human skin.

Another news was the introduction of the version NEMO CUSTOM, always using the new eco-friendly water-based soft matt acrylic paints, allowing to customize the structure of this armchair bi-colored: from the inside (painted white, black, or red), while on the outside choosing among a wide range of vivid colors.

At last, was presented NEMO BLACK IS THE NEW GREEN, made of recycled materials, partially from internal production waste, and therefore controlled, and partly from post-consumer recycling, such as PET bottles, thus preserving the ambient and giving life to new objects.
