The sector of health is directing Eastside, and looking at the Lo-Shu quadrant corresponds to number three. Number three has a “magical” meaning in many cultures, in Orient and Europe as well. In China, number three is related to the harmonious relationship between the sky, the earth, and the human being. To Christianity, number three symbolizes the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, guiding and protecting all. Not by chance in Feng Shui, the health sector is under such a significant number – it is an essential part, without whom nothing is possible.
This sector also governs the ancestral roots, looking deep at the genealogical tree. It is opportune to keep on this side of the house valuable antique objects, received as a heritage from your ancestors. It could be a unique piece of furniture, an elaborate decorative item, an old piano, a library filled with old books, a chest with antique jewelry or family portraits/photos, etc. Or you could keep here the genealogical tree of your family. If you decide to hang a family portrait of your elderly generations (parents, grand-parents, grand-grand-parents), choose one where they look healthy and happy.
This part of the house would be reasonable to place a home office, library, relaxation room, gym, or even a pharmacy corner. As in all areas of Feng Shui, it is essential to keep it clean and ordered.
Since the health sector is oriented on the East, and the governing element is the big Wood, in this part of the house, as in the sector of wealth, it will be opportune to place a winter garden or a terrace, filled with tall green, healthy plants. However, if no window is nearby, and natural plants cannot grow, choose to decorate with some artificial ones or put an image/painting of a beautiful landscape with one big healthy tree or an entire forest.
In Oriental and European cultures, oak trees and turtle see as symbols of longevity and robust health. So, to active, this sector will help a painting or an image of a robust perennial oak, the symbol of wisdom and endurance.
In China, an antique symbol of longevity is a particular object named calabash. Since ancient times, the calabash was filled with clear water, and until today it is considered carrying vitality and a cheerful spirit. Today you can find in small sizes, hang on the neck and take as amulets, to big vase sizes made of ceramics. It is opportune to place one or three calabashes in the eastern sector to potentiate this area.
Another beautiful symbol of tenacity, flexibility, and longevity is bamboo. You could place here a bamboo plant or a bamboo image/painting. An evergreen plant withstands any climate conditions; in a challenging situation will bend but never break.
Immense popularity, at least in the Orient, has the god Sau. He has an elongated forehead, a sign of wisdom and a great mind, and a great happy smile. On the one hand is holding a peach, the symbol of longevity. On the other hand, a stick with a calabash on the tip, according to a legend, carries the elixir of immortality. God Sau is part of a Trinity of gods, along with the gods Fuk and Luk. The deity Fuk represents blessings, good luck, health, and happiness. The god Luk is holding a gold bar in one hand and a wand in the other hand, representing stability, influence, success, and financial abundance. Together, they symbolize prosperity, blessedness, and longevity and can be placed in any house areas.
If you live in the countryside, then in the east you could plant a pine tree. In China, this is one of the most beloved plants represented in different arts, such as painting, sculpture, embroidery, beadwork, and more. Due to its evergreen needles, it is symbolizing vitality, health, and eternal youth.
Another great tree to plant on this side of the house is a cherry tree. As many of you may know, this is one of the first trees to blossom in springtime. First, it releases its perfumed flowers, and only afterward its leaves. It symbolizes hope, youth, and health.
Taking good care of our health is significant and necessary to realize all the projects in life. Be thoughtful to your body and mind. Choose your diet and physical exercises to keep your body in good shape so that you could have a clear mind to think of your future.
