One of the essential aspects of life is relationships and family. The millennian practice of Feng Shui, whose purpose is to improve a human’s experience, clean life path, and boost energy where is lacking, gives particular attention to this sector of Love and Relationships. Researchers say that this sector of life is interesting people, even more than wealth and prosperity. It is probably because nothing in life can compensate for the lack of love and reciprocal comprehension. That is the reason why it is so vital to curate with attention and care this sector of life, even if at present you are in a good loving relationship with your partner and family members.

In the practice of Feng Shui, extreme attention is given to the bedroom – it is considered the most important space in the house, even more, important than the living room or kitchen. A healthy and harmonious relationship between spouses is the most significant guarantee for happy and lasting well-being in the family. Before starting to activate the sector of love and relationships, first control your bedroom and make sure it complies with Feng-Shui's essential rules.

These are the general rules for the bedrooms:

1/ Mostly important is the bed. An important aspect has not only where it is situated respectively, the entrance door, but also its size, shape, color, material, high, etc.

2/ When you are lying down on the bed, you shall see the entrance door in the room. The bed must not stay in front of the entrance door, not sidelong, not with the headboard, not with another side.

3/ Do not place massive objects near the bed, like a desk or a dresser.

4/ Do not place heavy objects over the bed, such as shelves, applique, lampshades, ceiling beams, etc.

5/ A rigorous rule in Feng Shui is related to mirrors: if you have one in the bedroom, you must ensure it does not reflect your bed. Beliefs say that the reflection of a sleeping person in bed will negatively influence his health and well-being.

6/ Besides the above rules, valid to everybody, there are some additional conditions to respect for a couple's bedroom. One of them is to have an integral mattress, not two separates.

7/ The headboard of your matrimonial bed can be of any form you like with one condition – visually, it must not divide into two halves.

1 headboard

8/ It is very unfavorable for a couple to sleep on a folding sofa that splits the mattress into two halves: better choosing a couch with an integral mattress.

2 sofa

9/ The access to each side of the bed must be accessible, without obstacles.

10/ If you put a night table, appliques, rugs, or other accessories to one side of the bed, you must set the same to the other side of the bed. In the bedroom, keep everything in pairs

11/ For the same reason, it is highly unfavorable to keep here items of third persons, even if it regards your children, parents, or other close relatives and friends.

12/ With great attention, choose what images/photos/paintings you hand in the bedroom. Here are not recommended images of thirds persons; better choose representations of nature, animals, flowers, and other photos that arouse sentiments of love, tenderness, and care.

13/ Please do not use the space under your bed as a storage unit to keep unused, broken, or old things, or things you use in outdoor activities (like a skateboard, ski, skates, etc.) because of their Yang energy.

Following the most used practices in Feng Shui for potentiating the Sector of Love, also called the Sector of Relationships, Partnerships, and Interrelations:

Foremost, we shall underline that this sector is the sector of the mistress of the house. It is responsible for the well-being of all the women from the family.

Secondly, this sector is directly responsible for the relationships between partners, the love and care between husband and wife, thoughtfulness, tenderness, communication.

Thirdly, if you are single at present, this is the sector you must potentiate to meet your future partner, husband, or wife. In Chinese families, following up close the practices of Feng Shui, having a daughter or a son ready to marry, this sector of the house becomes of immediate attention.

The Sector of Love is directing South-West, and according to the Lo-Shu quadrant, it corresponds to number two. That is why everything must be in pairs – it is always about the relationship between two people. The energy of the great Earth rules this sector.

In this part of the house, directing south-west, most opportune would be to allocate the bedroom. Still, it will also be appropriate for the living roomdining room, or kitchen because these are areas gathering all the family. Undesirable would be allocating rooms dedicated to solitude, such as a home office, library, meditation room, laboratory, etc. If your home is small and you can reserve to this sector a small space in a room, it is recommended to place here two armchairs, and a coffee table, two mandarin ducks, a pair of roller skates, or something else paired, a symbol reminding two people. Very important to keep this space clean and always refined. If you already have a partner, you can position here your joint photo (not a family portrait with your kids and other family members, just the two of you). Do not keep here unused old things or items that belong to your ex-partner's or other people.

If you are single, and you wish to encounter a partner, then you shall potentiate this sector. Before everything else, imagine how you would like to see your partner, starting from physical characteristics (height, eyes color, hair, statue) to character and hobbies. Try to understand what are the faults you could live with and which are the things that you could not bear in a person. Write it all on a piece of paper. Be reasonable – perfect men/women do not exist, but at the same time, do not underestimate your perspectives. Think about what kind of relationship you want: marriage, flirt, a friend with benefits? Then try to find something that would represent the perfect relationship you desire: it could be a scene from the movie that reflects that moment or a photo of a celebrity pair living the type of relationship you want. A great symbol of passionate love will be a painting of red peonies and roses, orchids, and chrysanthemums.

You could place here, in the South-West direction, “the cup of love.” DIY one and customize it to represent your life, character, and desires. Here are a few steps to follow:

- Find a medium-size cup made of glass, crystal, ceramics, or porcelain (natural material)

- Cover the bottom with clear sand or beautiful natural stones (I’ve used seashells and pearls)

- Then, place two metallic objects, best if in gold or silver (rings, balloons, hearts, animals, fishes, etc.)

- Afterwards, cover all with clear water (not reaching the edge by a cm or two)

- Drop out a few flowers and leaves (you can use artificial ones if you don’t want to change them every week)

- Add a few floating candles, preferably red, that you will need to light up periodically

This cup symbolizes the unity and harmony of all five elements – Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth. Place it in the South-West direction and remember to curate it with regularity: change water, flowers, and candles, keep it clean and fresh. The cup of love will potentiate this sector of life and help you bring happiness and success to your love life.

Since the great Earth's energy governs this sector, it is the perfect place to keep here articles made of natural stone, porcelain, ceramics, marbles and granites, crystals (amethyst, quartz). These could be elaborated polished objects or raw-state materials, most importantly is keeping them in pairs. In China, a couple of beautiful ceramic vases often have paintings on, such as a pair of birds, two flowers, a pair of fishes; however, do not use images of dragons or other predatory animals in this sector.

The energy of Earth persists in colors such as terracotta, yellow, and brown. You could paint the beige or light browns the room in your house that is situated in South-West. Moreover, add more lighting (appliques, floor lamps) or light candles in this area – the element of Earth is feeding on the Fire element.

Keep this area balanced and clean, and remember that all comes at the right time. The relationship between two persons is built on passion and tenderness at the same time. Only when two persons love each other and support each other can result in a long-lasting and happy relationship.

Best wishes,

Nadiya
