IKEA, by itself, is a phenomenon in the furnishing business, introducing to the public a new way of decorating home by assembling modular systems in an individual and exclusive way. The shelf library system Billy by IKEA shows the best concept of this store. It starts with simple modules to adjust and complete into a library as big and as complex as a customer needs, customizing in size and accessorizing with angle modules, glass doors, CD towers, and TV stands.
Billy is made of chipboard, economic in production and easy to assemble. All the inclusive elements are afterward easily mounted and available in a selection of finishings like beech birch, from varnished white to varnished blacked-brown.
IKEA has always sold libraries, but Billy was optimized in terms of flexibility and use of materials. The mantra of IKEA is – functional design at low price – and by that has seduced the clientele from around the world with its clean lines, excellent versatility, and low cost, making from Billy an all-time best-seller and contributed to appreciate the Scandinavian charm.
